Philosophy behind the name: People like to keep a diary. And so do I, but i keep mine in music form. Memo's written with music. Or tone. memotone. My name is William Yates. Born on the 11th of July 1990. Music composing has become a big part of my life over these last few years and now I have decided it was about time to dedicate a web page to my creations. I came in contact with a DigiTech GNX3 Guitar floor processor that doubles up as an 8 track recorder with various instruments, Mic and Midi inputs last year and since then I have found a real interest in writing on my own. I've always been in bands and things but never worked on my own before. And it's going really well! The 8 track had changed my life. But now, a whole other world is open to me and I have gained Cubase SX and Reason 4, a new mixing desk, a fretless fender jazz bass, a new electric piano and a laptop. Which has really helped. I seem to get stuck in the one room and not be able to leave for hours just writing new stuff all the time. It's amazing. Hopefully you will enjoy my sounds. Be free. Take it easy.

Influences:
Well, ill start off with my music influences. Mostly stuff for the LEAF record label. some four tet. some drum and bass/dub step. Nirvana Unplugged. Achillies last stand, and any other music on my personal myspace profile. I am also influenced by my surroundings and situations. I guess you could say my dad Chris Yates is a big influence as his music knowledge is so expanded and colourful. Also my friends and family help, just with there general everyday movements and activities. if i try and put what they are doing into music sometimes it comes out with quite interesting and unnatural outcomes. Also, Art and Photography a film and everything creative influences me. sometimes i come up with the best phrases whilst just sitting at a blank page with my guitar waiting for something to draw to pop into my head. Obviously most things influence me in someway.
